There is an old Irish proverb that says “the man with the boots does not mind where he places his foot”. Such is the universal appeal of the boot that it has survived changing trends of fashion, preferences and seasons too and has always emerged even more stylish and relevant. When one talks about fall shoe trends, the humble and yet omnipresent boot is an important part of the same. Granted that the boot has gone through a lot of history too. There is a mention of this type of footwear as far back as 1000 BC. Today, the world has indeed come a long way from the boot of the year which was simply made of leggings and the soles and sides and uppers being stitched together!
This season, boots are all set to hit the fashion scene in vibrant colors and patterns. The emphasis is on cool comfort and reinventing the old classics like lace up boots. Many shoe manufacturers are jazzing up their line of boots with various add-ons and embellishments. Though the classic military style boot is a big hit, it has been made even trendier with the use of fleece lining and is being offered in varying heights as well. Some boots are being given buckles too. These buckles can be fixed either high on the boot or slung really low – almost touching the soil. Military boots are making it on the popular list with women too.
Michel de Montaigne also said that “one must always have one’s boots and be ready to go”. To get you ready to go for the day, there is a pull on boot as well. They come in the classic colors of blacks and browns but also in bolder colors like mustard and navy blues. Knee high boots are making it big this fall. But do be sure to wear it with the perfect ensemble. They work best with a very structured dress or a slim fit skirt or even slim fit jeans. These knee high boots come in varying heel lengths as well including the very trendy kitten heels. There is also a low wedge option for those who do not want towering high heels.
Boots are also going ethnic this fall. Shoemakers are opting for Indian prints, western looks and even Aztec prints on boots. It all looks extremely chic and trendy. These prints are finding their way on to the boots in different color combinations and are being partnered with different fabrics too. For instance, one of the trendier combinations is a strikingly colored Navajo print with suede western boots.
Studs and crafted leather are also dictating what the smartly booted person is wearing today. Metal tone studs are being fixed to boot – either all over or simply on the top edge of the boot. Combine these studs with stitched leather and you will make a fabulous style statement at any gathering. No one is afraid of color this season. Red, blue, creams and ochres are all being used to craft boots. You simply have to choose your outfit carefully and make it an eye popping look.
